First, the purpose of exercise is explained to the student, so he understands why all the fuss.
Then a 100 day program is started in which the student gradually increases the amount of exercise they do. Running, sit-ups, pull-ups, jump rope, and push-ups are demonstrated on various films (links provided), as are handball and shooting a basketball. The program simply states what is to be done each day, and how records are to be kept.
Get your student up and moving, away from the computer and getting some air!
The student will need a correctly sized jump rope, a basketball, a handball, a place to run that can be measured at 1/2 a mile, and a place to do pull ups.
IMPORTANT NOTE – A student should be checked out by a doctor before starting any kind of exercise program, and receive some sort of medical "okay" to exercise. This is especially true for students with health conditions or challenges. If the student is doing the program, or any P.E. program, and starts displaying health difficulties, a doctor should be consulted without delay, and the program suspended.
