Another in STEPS Music/History program. First, the student studies what music is, to better appreciate the works to be studied. Debussy, Ravel, Faure, Saint-Saens, Dukas, de Falla, Respighi, Poulenc, Holst and Vaughan Williams lives are studied. Impressionism is explained, and many dozens of works are listened to, with links to performances of the great works by these historic composers, often by some of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. There are even occasional recordings of the composers themselves playing or conducting.
A key event in musical history that produced some of the most beautiful and unique music of all time. A course sure to increase the student's understanding and love of music!
