Another in STEPS series of Current Events courses for ages 9-adult.
These courses each start by defining a global problem. Then, the course leads the student through directed research, so that the student can get a real grasp of the current situation for that issue. The student follows this up with creative exercises which help define the issue and the student's response to it as a concerned citizen of the world.
For students ready to confront one of the ugliest and most frightening phenomenon of our time. The 9/11 terror highlighted the bitter truth, that no one can afford to not understand the problems and solutions to Terrorism, today. It is an international plague, and scarcely a month goes by without an incident. Governments expend billions of dollars attempting to understand and limit terrorism, and generally fail.
In this course, first, the problem is defined. The long and ancient history of terrorism is explored. The student then starts structured research to uncover what terrorism is today, who does it, who supports it (such as the media), and what are the deadly consequences.
