My daughter had such fun with this course. She is constantly telling us about the Egyptian beliefs or what they did and relating them to things she sees in everyday life or in movies or books she reads, etc... She made connections between their "stories" and what she has learned in Sunday School. I feel like she has learned so very much and we can't wait to start the next one! Thanks! S. W.
_____
The second history course for Step 3 students, ages 9-10 who read fairly well, and older students still developing literacy. One of the world's first, great civilizations is explored by young students. Filled with exercises and fascinating information, pyramids and the Nile await! The ancient, true story of great and terrible leaders, and one of the earliest people to believe in an afterlife.
The course uses as source text the first Newberry Prize award-winning children's book, Van Loon's The Story of Mankind . The sections of the book needed for this course are included in the course.
The course specializes, as do all STEPS courses, in developing the students understandings and ability to think and form their own ideas and opinions. Additionally, as with all our history courses, this one is structured to increase the student's vocabulary and understanding of geography, as well as of history.
