A child is never too young to start taking part in their own well-being, and in maintaining their own safety. This course helps get the student age 5-6, or a preliterate student, moving in that direction.
This first Study & Lie Skills course deals with the student's safety, and what he can do to take responsibility for remaining safe. The first part of the course helps the student understand what getting lost is, and how not to get lost. It also teaches the student what to do if he does get lost. The next part of this course teaches the student how to remain safe in a classroom situation. Special exercises (things to do) show the student how to handle materials and tools with safety, including scissors, staplers, and the like. Next, this unique course helps the student play safely in his neighborhood, or at playgrounds and parks. Next comes what to do in a disaster such as an Earthquake, fire, or if another student is hurt.
Sixteen lesson plans, which will take around sixteen hours. Sixteen hours which will go a long way toward making certain the young student remains safe, and which shows him or her how to take responsibility for their own well-being! A parent's dream come true.
By the way, this course was first tried out with a group of 3-6 year-olds. Normally, an hour of study of any subject for such young students is simply too much. But we found that day after day, the children insisted on continuing, and doing far more than a day's worth of lesson plans! They were having too much fun to stop. (Surprised us, too!)
