First, the course covers the fascinating history of Halloween, going back 2,000 years to the Celts of Ireland, and then the Catholic Church of 1,200 years ago. How did the interaction between these two different forces give us Halloween?  Where did the idea of trick-or-treating come from, or lighting pumpkins? How about wearing costumes? 

It's all explained in this hands-on, fun course. The student even listens to Celtic!  And it can all be done by students with limited literacy.

Then the course focuses on Creative Writing, helping the student author Halloween stories with all the elements of a classic scary story!

This is followed by a series of craft activities with pumpkins, costumes and make-up.
