My almost six year-olds love the Step 1 Creative Writing course. They started writing out sentences to go with their pictures instead of just words. They write short "stories" all day long on any scrap of paper they can. They still can't write their letters correctly and they are sounding out since spelling is still a long way off, but their creativity is just exploding! AD, Homeschool Mom
_____
The second Step 1 Creative Writing course for preliterate or slightly literate students, or for ages 5-6. (It's recommended that the Step 1 Creative Writing courses be done in order.)
This course allows the young student to explore his own creativity while learning about the elements of good story telling. First, the student’s understanding of language is improved. This is followed by an introduction to some essential aspects of story-telling – characters, character objectives (making sure each character wants something), and opponents or problems. The student authors dozens of short stories, making use of both his growing understanding of story-telling, and increasing confidence in his ability to create.
